Welcome
Welcome to our school website! We really hope it gives you an insight into life in our wonderful school. Ballythomas National School is a small rural school in north County Wexford. We are situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, 13km from Gorey and 11km from Tinahely. We currently have 61 children enrolled, 3 mainstream teachers and a fulltime learning support teacher. We are in the catchment area for Coláiste Bhríde Carnew, Gorey Community School, Creagh College and Gorey Educate Together Secondary School.
We are a co-educational Catholic primary school. Health and well-being are both very important here in Ballythomas. We have a healthy eating policy and participate in Active Schools Week each year. We actively promote our Irish culture - through sports, our language and music. Hurling and Gaelic football are provided as extra-curricular activities for both boys and girls and all children also learn to play the tin-whistle.
We pride ourselves on being a welcoming and happy school, where children get to enjoy their time in primary school with lots of extra-curricular activities such as tennis lessons, drumming, rugby, tae-kwon-do, choir, drama, gardening club, ukulele and tin-whistle. We take part in all local GAA competitions (Rackard League and Mini-Sevens) in which we have been very successful in recent years. We also take part in Sing Out Loud in the National Opera House. We are currently working towards our Amber Flag - an initiative encouraging well-being and promoting positive mental health.
We currently run an 'After-School Club' from 1.40pm - 2.40pm for children in the infants classroom.
We hope you enjoy looking through our website and if you would like more information about our wonderful school, please do not hesitate to contact the principal, Ms. Katherine Byrne, on 053-9428343 or email us at ballythomasns@gmail.com.
