In our last two meetings the committee discussed different ways we could promote positive mental well-being in our school. The committee had some wonderful ideas and a great discussion was had. The children felt some form of meditation exercise might create a sense of calm, peace and balance in their classmates lives and help their emotional well-being and over all health. It was decided that Monday would be a good day to this, to set everyone up for a successful week in school! We are calling this 'Meditation Monday'. Every Monday at the same time all classes will stop and participate in teacher led mediation. We also discussed anxiety and different situations in school that might cause anxiety. The children decided that equipping their classmates with different strategies to help alleviate anxiety during these moments might help. So it was decided that once a month we will have a presentation in the classes (1st-6th) on causes of anxieties and strategies to help. Finally we listed all our possible fundraising ideas. Each member then voted for their top three favourites, anonymously. The votes were then counted and the one that came out on top was a pyjama day. We decided to combine this with Shrove Tuesday hence 'The Pancake Pyjama Party' was created. All funds raised will go directly to Pieta House.
